Be a Bronzer Boss

Is there one thing in your makeup bag that you can’t live without? By far…for me – it is my Bronzer! Everyone has their one – can’t live without – makeup product and it’s no competition in my handbag! Bronzer! I mean, who doesn’t want to look sunkissed? Bronzer has this amazing way to accent all those unique arches, beautiful jawlines, and accent those not so high, high cheekbones!

Bronzer is used to mimic where the sun would naturally kiss your face to add definition and warmth. It is meant to be placed on your face in all the areas where you were “meant to be” kissed by the sun! For myself and my clients I place bronzer on the cheekbones, temples, forehead, and bridge of your nose. I recommend EVERYONE at least try a bronzer if they haven’t already! When used correctly it can change your makeup completely!

Now, there are so so many shades and undertones to each bronzer. I have had so many clients come to me and say they have never used bronzer because it always looks “ too orange”. That’s because it probably was! Shopping for a bronzer is alot like , or if not harder than, shopping for a foundation! There are so many options out there and not alot of guidance in this area. Bronzers are meant to be – the same undertone – and color family as your natural skin. As a makeup artist I would recommend purchasing a bronzer that is 2 shades darker than your natural skin. I always look for a more muted color that is more of a neutral shade. A neutral color is that perfect middle ground – not too warm and not too cool. Alot of bronzers out there have a very warm undertone! When warm bronzers are applied to skin that is not warm it looks orange! The correct bronzer will truly give you a natural tan look, as if you had just been sitting in the sun for a couple of hours! If you are unsure what your undertones are I would recommend next time you are in your local beauty store, stop and get the makeup artists help! Some bronzers that I have found to be my makeup kit staples for myself and my clients are listed below! I have listed in order from least expensive to the ones that are more of an investment! I have found all of these to be stunning on just about everyone I have applied them on so dive in! Give them a try!

• • Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer – This product is a newer one for me and my kit! I have a few fellow makeup artists and bloggers that have recently recommended I give it a whirl and I am hooked! • • Bahama Mama Bronzer – This has been a staple in my personal and professional makeup kit for about 10 years! It is always a go-to neutral matte bronzer that looks so on almost everyone’s skin tone in the shade range light to medium. ( thebalm – Bahama Mama )

• • Too Faced’s Milk Chocolate Matte Soleil Bronzer – This product I found through my favorite blogger Sazan Hendrix! She used it a ton in her videos and after I went and tried it out, I was hooked. • • Bobbi Brown Bronzer in the shade Medium – Now this one for me is a personal favorite. I have used Bobbi brown products forever and I have come across nothing that I have loved more than this bronzer. I used It on so many of my clients, the color is just gorgeous. It can be used on a wide range of skin tones and it applies so beautifully. ( Bobbi Brown – Bronzer  )

• CHANEL Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base – As I have gotten older and my skin has become drier I have started playing with more cream-based products. This bronzer was one of the first creamy / gel textured bronzers I tried and have fallen in love with. This product is just heavenly. It applies so beautifully over foundation and sets perfectly. The color is perfect for light to medium skin tones. You definitely don’t “Need” this product but I wanted to list it because it is a favorite of mine! If you ever do get a chance to try It I would definitely recommend it. It looks super natural and the creamy texture leaves the skin looking refreshed and hydrated!
