I Tried the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation Discovery Set – Here is what you need to know!
The Haus Labs Foundation is a multi-award-winning Foundation. It is super popular all over the internet right now. The formula looks lovely. I have yet to try this foundation myself, so I thought I would try their Discovery set! I have seen posts about the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation Discovery Set all over Instagram! It seems like a great way to try the foundation formula and find your shade without leaving home. I also love that you get three different shades in your color family! This saves so much time having to try multiple foundations and returning them all in hopes of maybe finding your matching shade. Haus Labs sends you three deluxe samples to test out and shade match at home!
My initial thoughts about the process
I went to the Haus Labs website last week and found the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation Discovery Set on the main page of the website under the tab ” Discovery Set”, super easy to find. They have a tool to help you find your foundation color family on the left side of the page and photos to help you choose on the right. I picked the family of shades that I thought would best suit me, I chose the “Light” kit. Super easy. I checked out, and all I paid for was the shipping charge.
Here is where things get a little annoying for me, I received the three foundation shades, and they were just too dark. Totally fine, all I paid for was shipping, so no big deal. Maybe I could try and order the kit again, but in the “Fair” family? The website does say “risk-free.” I went back to the website to order the fair kit, but I realized that it actually isn’t “Free”. If you read further into the page, there is a small disclaimer:
“Purchase a full-size foundation within 21 days of your Discovery Set purchase and your set is free. Otherwise, you will be charged $12 + tax for the Discovery Set.”
So that means if the foundation shades don’t work for me, I pay $12 plus tax and shipping? And if I need to order the “fair” kit, do I pay the $12, tax, and shipping if the “fair” shades don’t suit me? This process is by no means “free” or “risk-free”.
I think this is a great concept in theory! If you try the foundation discovery set and one of the three shades matches you, you also really like the formula, and end up buying a full bottle, it is worth it. However, if you are looking to try the formula and find your foundation shade, it can get pricey. I now have to pay the $12, tax, and shipping for the “Light” kit I purchased. If I need to/want to order a new foundation discovery set in “fair” to find my color match, I now have to pay another shipping charge for the new box. If I don’t order a full-size foundation within 21 days of the second box, I will now pay another $12, tax, and shipping, totalling over $36 just to try and find my foundation shade.
Initial Thoughts on the Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation formula
Although this was not a free service, I have to say I do like the formula. It is super creamy and easy to blend. It seems like a great formula for my dry skin. It has light to medium coverage. I also love that it is a clean foundation formula. It is infused with her proprietary fermented arnica that helps reduce redness, helps even skin tone, and protects from environmental stress. It says it is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone.
I have swatched the shades in the “Light” kit below for you!
Shades Swatched from top down – 110, 160, 175
