Valentines Day Red Lipstick Edit

When picking a red lipstick there are a couple factors to be conscious of. Formulas : I love a creamy formula, something that glides on and glides off when I need it to, something that makes my lips feel hydrated and plump! But others love a good Matte Red lipstick. Matte Shades are typically super pigmented and great for a long night out. Matte shades also tend to be a bit more drying on the lips so, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend to someone with dry or chapped lips. Another good formula to try is a balm. These are also great for someone new to the red family! These give a great wash of color, makes your lips look juicy and plump, and isn’t going to be a shock in the mirror when you have it on.

Another factor to be conscious of is the hue. If you have warm a skin tone, the best shades are in the warm red family. These are the reds with a more orange undertone. If you have a cool skin tone it is best to go with a red lip color with a cool base, a red lipstick with a blue undertone. If you do not know what your personal undertone is, the easiest way to figure it out is to look at the veins on your fore arm. If your veins are blue , you have a cool undertone, if your veins are green you have a warm skin undertone, and if you cant tell what color your veins are then you are typically considered neutral. A neutral skin tone can wear cool or warm shades.

These are just a few things to consider when your shopping for your perfect lipstick but I bid you to shop around! When you find your perfect red lipstick, its empowering and even sexy! Red lipstick can really be a beautiful part of your makeup wardrobe.
