My Winter Skincare Saviors
Tis the season for pale and dry flaky skin! Winter definitely is the time when my skin turns into a dry cake begging for some rich creamy frosting!
I have pulled together a little list of products that have definitely helped bring my skin back to life!
Let’s get into it…
Start with a good face wash! This really makes all the difference. A good face wash will cleanse your skin without stripping your skin of its natural oils. For this, I love using my Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. This is a cleanser I recommend to everyone. It melts away all of your makeup, (including mascara) removes impurities, and tones your skin. It is a PH balancing cleanser, rich in amino acids from soy proteins, contains calming cucumber extract, and balancing rosewater. When I switched to this cleanser my skin looked and felt so happy. My breakouts cleared up almost immediately. Best cleanser I have ever used by far. Another great cleanser option is the Kiehl’s Centella Sensitive Facial Cleanser. This is especially great for winter dry sensitive skin! It was created to soothe sensitive skin and gently cleanse away any impurities. If you want something even more hydrating you can use BareMinerals Smoothness Hydrating Cleansing Oil. This is such a dewy favorite of mine. If I had to choose one for you to try, it would most definitely be the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I have gone thru several bottles and have backups! Lol, The thing of it is, if you start your skin off with the right cleanser, the skincare you apply afterward will look and feel so much better!
Next, go in with an exfoliator. ( 2-3x a week ) During the winter it is especially important to use an exfoliator. Your skin gets dry and flaky and the only way to really handle that is to use an exfoliator to remove that dry dead skin. I personally love using the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. This works wonders on the skin. If you want something even easier to use, you can go in with the Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads. These are super simple and effective.
*Note: Regular exfoliation helps to stimulate collagen synthesis to improve the skin’s texture, integrity, and keep the skin looking plump, tight, and young. Dead skin cells, if not removed, can reduce the penetration and absorption of your skincare routine products like moisturizers, serums, and sunscreen. If you do not remove the dry dead skin cells, your makeup will also look patchy, dry, and will sit on top of the skin and can make your skin look dry and aged.
Now is when you go in with a toner or treatment lotion. This is a step you can most definitely skip but I need all the help I can get with my dry skin. I am currently using the Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence. This is to help hydrate your skin while helping to smooth fine lines and improve skin texture.
Your serums come next! For winter you really want something hydrating and soothing. I love and always recommend to everyone the Avene Hydrance Intense Rehydrating Serum. This hydrates and soothes the skin while also protecting your skin’s natural barrier. It is a must for me during the winter especially! It is a lightweight water-based cream consistency. If you have super dry skin like me you can also try the Elemis Superfood Facial Oil. This is a super-rich oil formula that helps hydrate and nourish the skin. It makes the skin plump and protected. It also works great under your makeup!
Lastly I recommend a rich moisturizer & SPF to seal the deal! Don’t ever forget this step! This is what seals everything in, it is like a nice cozy weighted blanket for the skin! I have used so many moisturizers over the past years and love each one of them but nothing makes me happier than putting on my Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance. It truly is hydrating and leaves the skin so dewy and glowing! I also really loved the Fresh Lotus Anti-Aging Daily Moisturizer. This is great for day and night, super-rich and hydrating. This moisturizer is filled with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, perfect for winter dry dehydrated skin. If you wanted something a little more affordable I would recommend the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream SPF30. This is such a great daily moisturizer and SPF all in one!
These are just my personal staples that I always keep in my skincare cabinet! If you have been following me for a while you will know they have been my go-to products for years now. But I hope this helps and you are able to find some goodies in here! Thank you for visiting!
