Dreams Come True

Summer 2019 was one of the most memorable summers for me.

Makeup and skincare has always been a passion of mine, but in 2019 I sat down with my husband in our living room and had a serious chat about work for me.

I had been working a beauty counter of a high end cosmetics company for a while and loved everything about it except for the hours and that it was still working for someone else. For most of my life I’ve had jobs working in business, behind a computer, for someone else. It never felt fulfilling to me. I had a dream for years of working for myself somehow and freelancing, but had no idea what that would look like in reality. I had tossed around the idea of going back to school for my Makeup and Esthetics License for a couple years, but questioned if I could I really go back to school at 30? I had been out of college for so long that I didn’t know if it was something I could actually do! Taking tests and studying chapter on chapters of information… I felt so out of my element.

I loved the cosmetics brand I was working with, but wanted so dearly to start something for myself. It was a great experience to get to know the flow of working with clients. It gave me hands on training with so many different skin types and conditions. We did everything from date night makeup all the way to bridal makeup. It was a blast, but it just wasn’t the same as working on my own with all my tools doing what I love, working with brides. I love bridal because you are invited in, to share the most special day with a family. I can share my creative abilities to bless someone on their special day. It’s beautiful and I always feel so blessed to be a part of it.

For a long time I had tried to figure out what was God’s plan for me, what was I meant to do? I had a passion for makeup, skincare, and I loved encouraging the women around me. But was that enough?

Before long, it became clear that this IS something I would not only love and enjoy, but that would really have an impact on women’s lives! Encouraging women and making them look and feel beautiful sounded like the best job in the world to me! After much prayer and a lot of back and forth, that night on the couch my husband and I decided yes, this was something we could do and something that would really be great for me and my career!

I signed up for the eight month accelerated program that included Makeup, Waxing, all things facials , chemical peels, spray tans, and so much more. It was a great experience and my teachers were great! After school was complete I signed up and took my state boards! So glad I passed both exams on the first try and I can move forward with my new career!

I am now officially a Licensed Makeup Artist and Esthetician! I cant believe how fast time flies and what a great experience it has been. I have been working along side a local makeup artist and doing weddings for about 6 months now! It has been a dream come true and Im so beyond thankful for where I am today.

I am so excited for whats ahead all of the amazing opportunities to come! Summer 2019 is over and my career has just begun! Cant wait to share with you all the amazing things yet to come! My advice for women who are nervous to jump in and go for your dreams is – just do it! Its an amazing feeling to be in a career you love, growing as an individual, and becoming a better you!
