Favorite Lip Liners

Lip liners are an essential part of a makeup artist kit. I have a whole stack of different colors by different brands for my personal and professional kit. I have tried many different formulas and I have found that I reach for my Charlotte Tilbury liners the most. But it all depends on the look the bride is going for. I have a lot of gorgeous lip liners from Bobbi Brown, Nars, KKW, and NYX as well. Every company has their own formula, shade range, and packaging. I only use wooden pencils for hygienic reasons but if you are looking for liners for your personal collection, twist-up liners are fine as well.

If I were to recommend liners, I would recommend starting with a Charlotte Tilbury Liner.  I love Charlotte Tilbury as a brand but I also love all of their products. I have been slowly adding pieces to my kit over the past year and I have loved everything I have purchased. Their lip liner shade range is gorgeous and they are super creamy to apply, the colors are stunning, and they last all day! I have tested these so many times and they are my ride or die, tried and true, go-to liners. They are not only an amazing formula, but they are so pretty to have in your collection. The packaging is gorgeous! The main colors I consistently reach for are the 1.) Pillow Talk  2.) Pillow Talk Medium 3.) Iconic Nude 4.) Supersize Me. If you were to only pick one I would 100% recommend Pillow Talk Original, It is the most gorgeous liner I have used, it works beautifully under any lipstick – nude or bold!

Here are some liner tips that I have found helpful over the years:

• If you are looking to make your lips look bigger, naturally – over line your lips just a tad with a nude liner. Use your finger or a small buffer brush to diffuse the color out to create a softer line. This will make your lips look as if your color naturally extended out to the new lip line you are creating.
• If you are looking for longevity – use your lip liner not only to outline your lip but fill in the majority of your lips. Because lip liners are a more waxy formula and created for longevity they will act as a primer and a magnet to hold the lipstick on longer. Also If your lipstick fades or comes off throughout the day, your liner is a backup! The liner will last hours longer than any lipstick.

What lip liners do you girls love? I haven’t tried lip liners by Makeup Forever as of yet but I have them on my must-try list, I have heard they are a lot of makeup artist favorites! Maybe I’ll order some and do a review on them soon?
